Here are about Hyundai’s new MPV spied.
Instead of pursuing their usual Nürburgring, eye-eye, we have reached the Alps and enthusiastic Hyundai MPV is inserted through a step-ass it. The new car is inspired by the concept of bed-5 imode again shown at Geneva Motor Show 2008.
But while it is a car for six seats, that car production will have five seats, with two extra benches, sometimes dual boot floor.
The car is based on the i30 platform, making it a direct rival for the Vauxhall Zafira and is powered by Hyundai’s new 1.7-litre diesel. The engine produces 113bhp and 255Nm, which should make fairly easy work of these Alpine slopes, while the unit emits 139g/km. The firm’s new 1.6-litre direct injection petrol will be offered too.
Style will be high on the agenda, with the car set to feature similar swept back headlights and trapezoidal grille to those which debuted on the ix35 crossover. Concave surfaces and an interpretation of the BMW Hofmeister kink are also likely, as Hyundai’s chief designer Thomas Burkle is a former top man of the German firm’s design department. A shoulderline which sweeps down dramatically at the rear window to provide a better view out for rear-seat passengers is part of the finished design.
The car is due to be revealed early in 2011, so we’d expect the production car, likely to wear an i30-type badge, to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next year.
