MPV Modern Lifestyle

The new SEAT Alhambra is the best MPV for modern lifestyle.

SEAT is giving a debut to the versatile and stylish new Alhambra MPV this month.

The new Alhambrais marketed as an ideal choice for active and sporty individuals and families. It offers plenty of space for leisure, business and hobbies, fulfilling the expectations of family life as well as the demands of high-mileage business drivers.

New from the ground up, today’s Alhambra combines a high degree of functionality with sporting character.

There is a choice of four engines that combine performance with efficiency. The 2.0 TDI with 103kW/140bhp and a manual transmission consumes 5.5 litres of diesel per 100 kilometres, equating to an exceptionally low CO2 figure of 143 grams. Seat claims this is the best in the segment.

As a result this Alhambra bears the new SEAT logo for extremely low-emission models – Ecomotive E. The other Alhambra variants also boast impressive fuel economy, plus they are equipped with the stop-start system as part of the Seat efficiency package and carry the designation Ecomotive.

“Innovation and intelligence are the key words for our new Alhambra. This is a huge step forward in terms of usability, as well as in dynamics and safety,” said James Muir, chairman of SEAT, SA. “Its outstanding concept combines the highest levels of functionality and state-of-the-art technology with an excellent standard of quality and workmanship. And, of course, it wouldn’t be a SEAT if it didn’t also represent incredible value for money.”

The Alhambra has the perfect format for a versatile MPV. At 4.85 metres, it is slightly longer than its predecessor. It has also gained some additional width. These added dimensions, along with the best use of space inside, deliver an exceptionally generous amount of room, with ample space in the third row for adults according to Seat.

The long sliding doors, which are also available with electric operation in some specification levels, offer easy access to all seats. The luggage compartment is also more than generous.

Alhambra wins What Car? MPV title

SEAT is celebrating a winning start to 2011 with news that its new Alhambra has scooped the MPV title at this year’s What Car? awards.

Commenting on SEAT’s winner, editor-in-chief, Steve Fowler, said: “The new SEAT Alhambra is a brilliantly-conceived people mover. Space is key, but so are the clever features like the folding seats and sliding doors.

“However, it’s the way the Alhambra drives that impressed us most – particularly its comfort and refinement, and that it feels like a small family car on the road.”

New Chevrolet Orlando 2012

Talks about Chevrolet Orlando 2012.

Chevrolet’s first entrant into the European MPV/family van segment, the Chevrolet Orlando, will be one of the star attractions at the Mondial de l’Automobile in Paris on September 30, 2010, when the full production model makes its world debut. It will be one of four Chevrolet world premieres at the show.

Based on the show car concept first seen at Paris Motor Show in 2008, the Chevrolet Orlando is a true family car for the times, combining 7-seater practicality and interior flexibility with striking crossover style design.

Chevrolet’s new compact MPV eschews the bland designs sometimes seen in the segment, and instead adopts a bolder look with its low roofline and crossover inspired silhouette, while retaining the distinctive and recognizable Chevrolet ‘face’ depicted by the split radiator grille and bow-tie badge.

The Chevrolet Orlando’s low swept roof line is complemented by the muscular, protruding wheel-arches, housing 16, 17 or 18 inch wheels.

The new Chevrolet Orlando MPV has a key role to play in Chevrolet’s continued product offensive in Europe, as Wayne Brannon, president and managing director for Chevrolet Europe explains. “The new Orlando MPV kicks off an ambitious seven-product launch program over the next 15 months.

“We’re confident the Chevrolet Orlando not only brings great value for money to the MPV class but also something fresh – function with attitude if you like – and the opportunity for us to continue building our volume across Europe. I believe it will also bring more new customers to the Chevrolet brand.”

Toyota Verso a Safest MPV

These article about Toyota Verso as the fastest MPV 2010.

According to Euro NCAP’s test results for 2010, Toyota Verso is the safest MPV of 2010. In 2010, Verso was given the top five-star rating for all-round safety performance by Euro NCAP, the industry’s benchmark testing organisation. More than that, Verso achieved the highest combined percentage scores in each test category of any MPV subjected to the independent crash test and assessment programme.

Specifically, Verso achieved an 89 % score for adult occupant protection, 75 % for child occupants, 69 % for pedestrian impact performance and 86 % for safety assistance.

The results reflect the tough quality of Verso’s design and construction, including detailed features in the front end that help minimise injury risks to pedestrians – features that are gaining increased importance in Euro NCAP’s testing calculations. By 2012 a minimum 60 per cent score will be required in this category in order to secure an overall five-star rating – a level Verso has already comfortably exceeded.
