Chevrolet Orlando replace Tavera?

Above more info about it.

Mini-MPV seems to be the latest buzzword in the Indian auto industry. A number of global auto biggies who have lined up multiple rollouts for the next few years, have are actively looking at adding a people mover car to its portfolio.

Some of the prominent among them are Maruti Suzuki, GM India, Nissan India, Ford India, Toyota Kirloskar, etc. Industry observers are of the view that all-purpose vehicles with compact dimensions are people carriers resembling smaller vans with increased interior room. Most of the aforesaid companies are of the view that by giving the mini MPVs car-like refinement, making it a 7-8 seater and pricing it competitively will bring in record numbers. The target customers for such products are generally market families who want a different vehicle with better fuel economy.

image

While some companies are looking at either launching such vehicles from scratch, others are looking to leverage on the existing platform. Of late, there has been a lot of speculation that GM India will roll out an all-new sedan which may replace Aveo and an all new MPV priced between Rs. 8-10 lakh, both based on the 300 series platform. The present 300 series platform offerings, Beat and Cruze, which come at a minimum of Rs 3.34 lakh and Rs 10.99 lakh respectively, have a waiting period of 4-6 weeks.

Even though the details were not shared by the company, rumours were flying thick and fast that the Indian arm of the American automaker is looking to roll out Orlando to replace Tavera in the compact MPV segment. Thanks to the impending BS-IV emission norms that will be implemented in 13 cities, General Motors India has decided to stop selling its ‘Tavera’ Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) as the company has decided not to upgrade the engines of the model, at least in the near term.

It is to be mentioned that the Chevrolet Orlando is a five-door, seven-seat compact MPV which will be manufactured by General Motors under the Chevrolet division. It was introduced as a concept vehicle at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. It was announced at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show that the Orlando would go into production in the US along with the Chevrolet Spark. In August 2009, at its extended product review, GM previewed the production-spec Orlando and confirmed its production. GM is expected to sell a similar car under the GMC brand as the Granite. GM announced in May 2010 the Orlando will not be sold in the U.S. However, it will be catering to emerging markets like India and China.

Peugeot’s New 5008 MPV

Some info about Peugeot’s new 5008 MPV.

THE new Peugeot 5008 is, in simple terms, Peugeot's rival to the world class Renault Scenic. Not to be confused with Peugeot's also new and very attractive 3008 which is a "Crossover" (mix of SUV and MPV) vehicle, the 5008 is unashamedly a seven seat family MPV and so as such it shall be judged.

The new 5008 competes in a growing and indeed now competitive segment of the Irish market, the family car segment. There are three models available, the SE, SX and the SX Ecomatic all powered by a 1.6 Hdi diesel. I have been road testing the 1.6 Hdi SE model to see how it compares with the best of the rest.

Hyundai is scheming to broach nonetheless an additional latest indication to the flourishing lineup and this time the car in subject is an MPV (multi role vehicle). Built for the European market, a antecedent has been spied contrast in the Swiss Alps. The latest MPV is approaching to be formed on the HED-5 i-Mode judgment which debuted at the 2008 Geneva Auto Show.

New MPV spied

Here are about Hyundai’s new MPV spied.

Instead of pursuing their usual Nürburgring, eye-eye, we have reached the Alps and enthusiastic Hyundai MPV is inserted through a step-ass it. The new car is inspired by the concept of bed-5 imode again shown at Geneva Motor Show 2008.
But while it is a car for six seats, that car production will have five seats, with two extra benches, sometimes dual boot floor.

The car is based on the i30 platform, making it a direct rival for the Vauxhall Zafira and is powered by Hyundai’s new 1.7-litre diesel. The engine produces 113bhp and 255Nm, which should make fairly easy work of these Alpine slopes, while the unit emits 139g/km. The firm’s new 1.6-litre direct injection petrol will be offered too.
Style will be high on the agenda, with the car set to feature similar swept back headlights and trapezoidal grille to those which debuted on the ix35 crossover. Concave surfaces and an interpretation of the BMW Hofmeister kink are also likely, as Hyundai’s chief designer Thomas Burkle is a former top man of the German firm’s design department. A shoulderline which sweeps down dramatically at the rear window to provide a better view out for rear-seat passengers is part of the finished design.
The car is due to be revealed early in 2011, so we’d expect the production car, likely to wear an i30-type badge, to be shown at the Geneva Motor Show next year.

Hyundai i20 mini MPV

Above are some info about Hyundai i20 mini-MPV.

Opel has released the very first photos of the all-new Meriva mini-MPV ahead of it official unveiling. The all-new Meriva is scheduled to make its official premiere at the upcoming Geneva Auto Show in March.
The all-new Opel Meriva is one of the most successful vehicles in the mini-MPV segment. Over the past few years, it was also the best selling vehicle in the segment, which has been gradually expanding with new models from different brands.

image

One of the latest mini-MPV models that joined the battle for young European families is the brand-new Kia Venga. Kia Venga might be the first attempt of South Korean's second largest carmaker to lure younger families to the showrooms, but its a very solid car with nice design and modern powertrain technology.
But Venga is not the last mini-MPV coming from a Korean carmaker! Hyundai has already announced it is working on a similar model, which will use Venga's powertrain technology, including engines, platform and transmissions.
Dubbed the i20 mini-MPV, the model is expected to be marketed in Europe only. It will be built alongside Kia Venga at Hyundai's European manufacturing plant that has a capacity tp build 300.000 new vehicles per year.
There are no images of the upcoming Hyundai i20 mini-MPV on the web at the moment, but we are expecting to see at least some teaser shots released by Hyundai ahead of Geneva Motor Show. With new models, such as mini-MPV, Hyundai sales in Europe is expected to grow significantly in 2010.

Coming this 2012 with new Dodge MPV

Here are some info that you need to know.

Sometime in calendar year 2012, showrooms will receive a new seven-seat multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) that is being developed for the US market. Last April, Fiat revealed its latest strategy to revive the Chrysler Group.

It also gave a brief outline of the products that will roll out over the next several years both in Europe and the US. This new MPV, which will be built on the Fiat Group C-compact platform, will rival the Mazda5 and Ford’s upcoming Grand C-Max. While it’s possible that the model could be badged as both a Chrysler and a Dodge, a Dodge-branded vehicle is more likely, especially with reports that Fiat plans to keep Chrysler and Lancia closely linked.

Fire Risk car

Let’s know about Minivans for fire risk.

Chrysler's popular minivans are the subject of a new recall that follows two other recent recalls by the domestic automaker.

The 2008-2009 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan are being recalled for a problem with wiring. In some vehicles from those model years--the vehicles in question were built between February and September of 2007--the wiring harness was not routed properly, which can lead to contact with the sliding side door. If the harness casing is worn through, the door latch could overheat, and a fire could result.

Reuters reports as many as 284,831 minivans might be affected.

Chrysler will repair vehicles for free, starting this month. Owners can contact the automaker at 800-853-1403, or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) at 888-327-4236.

Chrysler's also recalling two other model lines--some 2007 Dodge Caliber and Jeep Compass compacts are being brought back for sticky throttle pedals, and the 2007-2010 Jeep Wrangler is being recalled for leaking brakes.
