MPV Teaser+Toyota Prius Released

The Toyota hybrids offensive is in full swing ever since the North American International Show (NAIAS), where the car maker presented the extended lineup based on the most successful hybrid in the world. For Europe, the car maker already announced the Yaris hybrid, and now comes back with a teaser of the Prius+, a seven seater MPV.

The manufacturer brags that this model will be the first in Europe to offer the seating capacity of an MPV and the benefits of a hybrid power train. The system, based on the Hybrid Synergy Drive featured for years in the Prius, will probably get a revamp for the new model.

The Prius+ promises to bring the lowest fuel consumption figure of any MPV currently on the market. In the Prius v minivan, presented by the car maker at NAIAS, on which the Prius+ is expected to be based, the system offered a choice between four driving modes: Normal, Power, Eco and EV.

According to Inside Line, the new Prius MPV will enter the market by 2012. The model is part of the world wide expansion of the Prius line announced by Toyota, which will see the car maker launch no less than 11 derivatives of the hybrid (a move which was long time coming, considering the decreasing interest of the consumers in the classic Prius.
